Massive Hollywood Gun Fails From The Rookie
Hollywood has a long history of portraying guns in ways that reveal a glaring lack of firearm knowledge, often violating basic gun safety rules. From actors carelessly sweeping their fingers over triggers to reckless muzzle discipline, Hollywood’s gun "fails" not only break realistic portrayal but also showcase a lack of respect for firearm handling.
This disregard often results in scenes that misinform audiences, perpetuating dangerous habits and reinforcing the misconception that guns are inherently reckless.
These mistakes reveal that, despite the frequent use of firearms on screen, many in Hollywood don’t understand the basics of safe, responsible gun handling.
I came across this clip from the ABC show The Rookie, season 6, episode 6. It features a woman posing as someone who knows little about firearms.
She’s undercover, trying to get her hands on a gun to help solve a murder by taking the gun, shooting it, and getting the ballistics off the bullet trapped in ballistic gel.
Look, I know TV shows aren’t supposed to be super realistic, but this scene right here? Whew… it’s next-level bad.
It’s like a highlight reel of what not to do at a gun range.
