GALLS® Partners with Kentucky Attorney General’s Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to Showcase Critical Ballistic Protection for Kentucky Law Enforcement Agencies

GALLS® joins Attorney General Russell Coleman in demonstrating the lifesaving gear now available to Kentucky Law Enforcement Agencies through the $15 million grant from the Kentucky General Assembly.

Lexington, Ken. (August 2024)GALLS, LLC®, the nation’s leading supplier serving America’s public safety and military professionals, proudly partnered with the Kentucky  Attorney General’s Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, to demonstrate the power and effectiveness of ballistic protection for law enforcement officers across Kentucky. Held at the Bowling Green Police Firing Range at the conclusion of the 52nd Kentucky Association Chiefs of Police State Conference, the event underscored GALLS’ commitment to ensuring that every Kentucky officer has access to the protective gear they need to stay safe in the line of duty. Other vendors in attendance included Point Blank, 5.11, and Fechheimer.

The demonstration featured Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman, who personally tested body armor by firing multiple rounds, showcasing the life-saving potential of the equipment. This event marked a significant milestone in the deployment of the $15 million Kentucky Body Armor Grants Program from the Kentucky General Assembly, aimed at purchasing and sizing approximately 200 vests for over 30 law enforcement agencies across the state with essential protective gear.

“Every member of Kentucky law enforcement deserves the equipment necessary to get them home at the end of the day,” said Attorney General Russell Coleman. “It was incredible to see firsthand what these vests can do to keep our courageous men and women safe. With $15 million from the General Assembly, the Body Armor Grant Program is going to make a real difference, and I encourage every eligible agency to contact our office and take advantage of this program.”

As the sole fulfillment vendor for the program, GALLS is responsible for providing the body armor and shields that are now being distributed statewide. This initiative addresses a critical need, as approximately 20 percent of Kentucky’s law enforcement officers currently lack proper ballistic protection or are using expired equipment.

Jim Dugan, Chief Revenue Officer of GALLS, expressed the company’s dedication to supporting the safety of Kentucky’s law enforcement. “As a Kentucky-based business, we are deeply committed to protecting the men and women who serve our communities. This partnership with the Attorney General’s Office is a natural extension of our mission to provide the highest quality protective gear to those who need it most.”

Galls encourages all eligible law enforcement agencies to apply for the grant through the Attorney General’s website. This program is a significant step toward fulfilling GALLS’ mission of ensuring that every officer in Kentucky is fully protected as they serve and protect our communities.
