FN Suppressors: What You Need to Know Before Buying

Back in September, we went to South Carolina for a closed-door, journalist-only preview of FN’s next generation rifle suppressors before SHOT Show. What you’re about to see is a technical walk-through with one of the engineers who helped develop FN’s new QD556 and QD762 suppressors, followed by live fire on the new SCAR 16 and SCAR 17.

These are 3D-printed Inconel suppressors using a low-backpressure, forward-venting design, built specifically to run on the SCAR platform without over-gassing or compromising reliability. They are full-auto rated, HUB-compatible, and designed around FN’s military heritage, including surge testing cycles developed for machine gun use.

In this video we cover mounting, materials, backpressure, SCAR optimization, and why FN chose Inconel and additive manufacturing to control heat, pressure, and durability. We also talk about the military lineage behind the design, the role of the SCAR 16, 17, and Mk20 SSR, and how these new suppressors are meant to integrate as part of a complete weapon system rather than an afterthought accessory.
